Abstract:In the 21st century,mankind has been faced with the crisis caused by the lack of fossil resources and increasing environmental problems.Industrial biotechnology,or white biotechnology,will be one of the most promising ways forward to ensure energy security,environmental protection and economic growth.In this paper,the principle obstacles and challenges in key technologies,regulatory policies,business environment,investing and financing of worldwide white biotechnology industry are thoroughly discussed,and the suggestions are provided to promote the development of white biotechnology industry in China.
