Abstract:After more than 20 years development, China’s national High-Tech Industrial Development Zone (HIDZ) made great contribution to economic and social development and national innovation system construction in China. This paper will make a comprehensive evaluation on the role of HIDZ for national development from the perspective of economy, innovation, industry, city development. It highlights that HIDZ become the main stay of supporting national economic growth, leading the transition of economic development, constructing national innovation system, developing strategic emerging industry and building modern city. Therefore, in the new development stage, national HIDZ should take greater responsibility, which require central government to adjust new orientation and policy for HIDZ’s development.
