Abstract:Psychometrics is a subject which studies psychological trait with quantitative method. It has emerged and developed under the powerful promotion of social demand. Classical test theory, item response theory and generability theory are its foundation. Computerized adaptive test （CAT） is the combination of psychometrics and computer science. Cognitive diagnosis theory （CDT） is the integration of psychometrics and cognitive science. CAT and CDT are applied at currently. Computational intelligence is becoming an important research technology. Psychometrics has broad application prospect in the areas of education, medicine, government, industry and military. However, it needs to strengthen the studies on modeling, parameter estimation, equating, difference of item function and standard setting. A good legal environment and high quality talents team are very important for the application of psychometrics.
