Abstract:Promoting ecological progress is stressed in the report to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC), highlighting its significance, necessity, and urgency. It has become a major strategic task for the whole Party and the people of all ethnic groups in China to comprehensively study and apply the strategic deployment of promoting ecological progress adopted in the 18th National Congress of CPC. Under the new conditions, we should gain a full understanding of the major significance of promoting ecological progress to the realization of China''s national development. We should fully understand that enhancing ecological progress is the inherent requirement of removing resource and environmental constraints and achieving sustainable development, the only way to meet the people’s expectation of a better life and to build a beautiful country, and the sure choice of keeping up with the international trends of green and low-carbon development and meeting our obligations as a major responsible developing country. In order to promote ecological progress, we should thoroughly understand and grasp the content and concept of ecological progress, and make clear the general requirements, guiding principles, fundamental paths as well as goals and tasks of making ecological progress. In the current and future period of time, we should follow the strategic deployment of promoting ecological progress adopted in the 18th National Congress of CPC, improve development of China''s geographical space, adjust industrial structure, accelerate transformation of development patterns, strive for green, circular and low-carbon development, keep to the new path of urbanization, enhance the capacity of scientific and technica l support, improve institutions and mechanisms, call for a way of green life, and work hard to build a beautiful country.
