Abstract:Information technology has greatly influenced scientific activities. Being aware of the significance of e-Science and its potentials in microbiological study, Institute of Microbiology, Chinese Academy of Sciences（IMCAS）implements a series of e-Science programs, including World Data Centre for Microorganisms（WDCM）, Service Platform for Information Mining of Microbial Strains, Knowledge Environment of Industrial Biotechnology, and Research Network for Applied Microbiology （RNAM）. The institute strives to integrate microbiological research and its application. This paper will discuss how to promote microbiological research and application by virtue of e-Science.
