Abstract:Engineering Research Center is a scientific validation, engineering platform and base, is the birth place of next generation technology, is the interface of fusion of scientific culture and industrial culture, and is the bridge between research and market. Launched by CAS,“Pioneer Initiative” action plan clearly proposed the construction of service network, to build a world-class public platform of science and technology resources, and to enhance the ability to support scientific and technological innovation. Based on the development of foreign engineering centers, the article reviews and summarizes on our network experience in engineering research centers in detail, and analyzes the present situation and existing problem. Aiming at enhancing the capability of our engineering, speeding up the transformation and transfer of scientific and technological achievement, and serving and supporting economic and social development, the paper puts forward recommendations for future development of our engineering centers. Through a clear positioning and overall planning, adjusting the existing centers, establishing the interdisciplinary center with key support, promoting the centers’ construction and development, to guarantee the engineering research centers play the significant role of platform and bridge of transformation and transfer for scientific and technological achievements.
