Abstract:Ever since the 18th CPC National Congress, China has accelerated construction of China's high-end think tanks. Think tanks in China have entered an era of “encouraging blossoming and contending of all”. As one of the plotting institutes for the goal of building high-end think tanks, the Institute of Contemporary China Studies of Tsinghua University (CCS) has become gradually influential. This paper will take the CCS as a specific example to illustrate the establishment of new think tanks with Chinese characteristics and the spreading of their ideas. There are five parts in this paper. The first part introduces the development process of think tanks after the founding of new China. The second part introduces the three-stage history of CCS. In the third part, the spreading of CCS's ideas is illustrated from two aspects: research subject and research production. The establishment and development experience of CCS as a university think tank is summarized in the fourth part. And the last part concludes that the development of think tanks needs accumulation of efforts and innovation. Chinese think tanks have unique advantages on the research of Chinese issues.
