        The development of chemistry in twentieth century is reviewed. The chemical researches have been and are now still playing utmost important roles in the progress of human being and of science and technology. Based on the current status of chemistry and relevant sciences, the modes, themes and the topics of chemical sciences in the near future were outlined.
