        植物在生物圈的物质循环和能流中处于最关键的地位。 2 0世纪植物科学经历了描述植物学、实验植物学到现代植物学的发展 ,形成多个系统的植物学分支。 2 1世纪植物学与其它学科交叉渗透更趋明显 ,学科内部更趋融合 ,研究方法多样化 ;资源植物及植物科学在环境、农、林和医药等领域的应用将受到广泛重视。我国植物学应结合与国家需求密切相关的生态环境和农业问题 ,重点进行在人类活动干扰和胁迫环境条件下植物对环境的适应性以及农业生物技术方面的基础研究与应用基础研究。
英文摘要
        Plants are of fundamental importance to matter cycling and energy flow in biosphere. Throughout the 20th century, plant sciences have experienced from descriptive botany, experimental botany to a modern discipline with many intercrossing branches. In the 21th century, its development will be characterized by the increasing intercross with other disciplines and the gradual integration of its branches by means of diversified research approaches. It is no doubt that plant science will receive considerable attention, as it is fairly applicable to the development of environmental, agricultural, forestry and medical sciences, etc. Plant science in China should particularly focus on environmental and agricultural problems related to the national needs, and give top priority to the basic researches and the application of basic researches to the development of agricultural biotechnology as well as the mechanism of plant adaptation to stress environment interrupted by human activities.
